Rita Ora has reportedly signed a new record contract, having settled her long-standing lawsuit against her former label Roc Nation, run by Jay Z.

The 25 year old British pop star filed a lawsuit against Roc Nation at the end of 2015 in a bid to have her contract terminated because they refused to release new material by her. However, on Tuesday (June 7th), she shared with her fans that she was in the process of putting pen to paper on a new record deal.

Announcing the news via her Snapchat account, Ora posted a picture of new documents, captioning it “contract time!!” It isn't clear what label she's signed to, though rumours have suggested it might be Warner Bros.

It appears that Ora and Roc Nation have settled their respective lawsuits between themselves out of court, after the label launched a $2.4 million counter-suit against the singer in February this year.

Ora had only released one album via the New York-based label since signing to them back in 2008, and launched her legal fight in December last year by filing papers at Los Angeles Superior Court arguing that the contract was “unenforceable” and blaming the lack of exposure she was getting on a change of direction at the company.

In the papers, she described Roc Nation as a “diminished” company “caught in a political quagmire of dysfunction.” The countersuit argued that Ora, in attempting to free herself, was in breach of contract, having only released one record in a five-album deal.

Ora is currently filming the two sequels to Fifty Shades of Grey, having last month announced that she’s quitting as a judge on ‘The X Factor’ after only one series.

Recently, an insider to Ora’s camp told The Sun: “Rita is overjoyed she can finally start discussions with other labels, which have been waiting on this case to be resolved. Once filming wraps on Fifty Shades, she will finalise a new deal and start work on recording her new album.”
