Rihanna, who is currently on her 'Diamonds World Tour', visited the island of Phuket in Thailand whilst taking a break from the busy schedule this past weekend.

The 25 year old singer, who is well known for frequently using the social media site 'instagram', posted a series of photos during her South Asian vacation and in one particular photo Rihanna seemed to be making new friends with the local wildlife.

On Friday (Sept 21st) the pop star posted a link on twitter to her instagram photo that showed her cuddling up to a fury primate also known as the Slow Loris, she then tweeted 'Look who was talking dirty to me!"

Unbeknown to Rihanna, the big eyed Slow loris is native to South Asia and is listed as a protected species. The snap posted by the singer prompted an investigation by local police to see if the animal is being illegally used for tourist attraction purposes. The photo led Phuket authorities to arrest two men on Saturday (Sept 21st) and could face up to four years in prison if charged with possession of protected animals.

Phuket district chief, Weera Kerdsirimongkon said "Phuket authorities were alerted to the picture (of Rihanna), and last night police arrested the two individuals who brought out the loris as a photo opportunity for tourists...It's like a cat-and-mouse game. But this time it's bigger because a celebrity like Rihanna posted the picture, and there were more than 200,000 'likes' from around the world."

Finally it seems, instagram proves it has more uses other than a platform to post 'selfies', which the Barbados singer inteneding on posting in the first place.

Rihanna left Thailand this past weekend and she will now be heading to the Australian and New Zealand leg of her 'Diamonds World Tour'
