Rihanna has become one of only three acts to score a UK number one single over seven consecutive years. The Barbadian singer joined Elvis Presley and The Beatles on the illustrious list after 'The Monster' - Eminem's new single featuring Rihanna on vocals - stormed to the top of the chart.

The single marks the eighth time that both singers have had UK number one and comes three years after their first collaboration - 'Love the Way You Lie' - became one of the UK's biggest selling singles of all time with more than 1.15 million copies sold.
Rihanna's string of No.1's include Diamond (2012), We Found Love (2011), What's My Name (2010), Run This Town (2009), Take A Bow (2008) and Umbrella (2007). The Monster - taken from Eminem's forthcoming album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 - pushed smash hit 'Royals' by Lorde down to No.2, while Fat Boy Slim's 'Eat Sleep Rave Repeat' debuted at No.3.
Elsewhere, One Direction's new song - 'Story of My Life' - went in at No.4.
Over on the albums chart, Arcade Fire's fourth album Reflektor snatched the top spot from Katy Perry's Prism, outselling the huge selling U.S singer by two to one, according to the Official Charts Company. The indie-rock record garnered mainly positive reviews from critics and features David Bowie singing backing vocals on the title track.
