Reese Witherspoon has put ''a lot of love'' into her new lifestyle company Draper James.

The 39-year-old actress has created the business to sell a variety of goods including clothes, cosmetics, bedding, bath products, kitchenware and other home décor items all inspired by Southern heritage.

Reese - who was raised in Nashville, Tennessee, in the US - has been involved in every stage of the creative process and after making the decision to name the brand after her grandparents she wouldn't accept anything less than the best.

She told ABC News: ''I've gone through so many things over and over again ... there's a lot of care and love in this project. And I don't get involved unless I am touching everything, and seeing it. Because it's also my family name. Draper James is my grandmother's name, and my grandfather's name put together.''

The 'Hot Pursuit' star has been working on the company for three years ahead of the launch in late 2015 and among her favourite items are her line of handbags - which range in price from $155 to $325 - and the thank you notes emblazoned with Southern sayings.

She said: ''It's been so much fun. It's so creative. Ever since I was a little girl, I always wanted to have a stationery store. I've always been obsessed with stationery and monograms. There's something about Southern girls and monograms, we literally - if it's not moving, we monogram it.''

The first Draper James store will open in Nashville this autumn.
