FORGOTTEN REALMS: DEMON STONE - PS2 Review

Demon Stone is a third person hack 'n' slash adventure game set in the Forgotten Realms world, Demon Stone tells the story of three warriors brought together by some unexplained mysterious force which is where the adventure begins.

After the usual hello's and who the hell are you introductions through the cut scenes, the three warriors join forces to ultimately defeat the not so nice goblins, beasts and dragons.

The three warriors all have different skills, the Fighter is skilled in armed combat, Sorcerer uses a touch of magic to defeat its enemies and finally the Rogue Warrior adept in her ability to avoid traps and has great agility and when combined the three make for a very formidable fighting unit, where their quest is to rid the land of demons and very angry fire breathing beasts, that are unfortunate to get in their way. It is Dungeons and Dragons time, it is very much in the Onimusha style, not quite as engaging but an easy sort of pick up and play game but I must say it is better than the Lord of the Ring games which are bland in comparison.

The bonus with the three characters is that you have the capability to change control of a character at any time during

the proceedings so being able to assume the roll of Fighter, Sorcerer or Rogue warrior with a simple press of the direction pad. With this capability you will quickly become adjusted to their different skills and quickly fight with the character best skilled for the task in hand.

The look of the game and characters are visually excellent and the animation and rendering is top grade stuff. The fighting dynamics of the characters, you will find work well and are quickly mastered. The cut scenes add to the proceedings giving you a real feel of a fantasy adventure.

I have now come to the conclusion that I will never be the greatest gamer out there but I do like the challenge but unfortunately I was stumped very early on in the proceedings of this adventure and got irritated retrying from the same place time and time again, but saying that before I was struggling I enjoyed Demon Stone immensely . I enjoyed hacking 'n' slashing at Orcs and Trolls I encountered through the many scenarios and will return to fight another day.
