Bollywood Star Priyanka Chopra Is Throwing Her Support Behind The Organisers Of An Animal Rights Campaign Working To End The Use Of Elephants In The Circus By Voicing A Life-sized Robotic Version Of The Animal.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) officials are launching a tour across the U.S., Europe and India with Ellie the elephant to educate students about the creatures' lives while in captivity and the Quantico star will provide the voice for the robot, which will tell a story about the abuse suffered by the animals.
"Elephants are truly magnificent creatures, who desperately need our help and protection," a statement from Chopra reads. "Ellie and I are teaching kids that elephants belong in the wild with their families and that they suffer greatly in captivity, in which they're kept chained, forced to learn tricks, and deprived of all the things that make them happy, like family and freedom.
"I couldn't be more proud to join PETA in bringing Ellie's story to life for children everywhere, with the hope of instilling the idea of compassion and kindness for living creatures of all kinds."
