The Iconic Nightclub Where Prince Filmed His 1984 Purple Rain Movie Has Been Temporarily Closed After Three Revellers Were Hurt When The Venue's Ceiling Collapsed During A Gig By Canadian Rockers Theory Of A Deadman On Wednesday Night (12aug15).
First Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which was heavily featured in the pop superstar's Oscar-winning film, became the scene of a major disaster when two large pieces of the ceiling fell on top of the audience while the rock group was on stage.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and three gig-goers were taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
The gig was abandoned and the club was evacuated, and it has now been closed while authorities carry out an investigation.
Nate Kranz, First Avenue's general manager, says, "A large portion of the ceiling fell and took out water pipes with it. We have no idea why or how it happened... It was a terrible surprise."
A number of upcoming shows at the venue have been cancelled, but R&B star Miguel is currently still slated to perform there on Saturday (15Aug15).
