Rapper Pitbull has become the latest hip-hop star to enter the alcohol business after becoming a majority shareholder in a new low-calorie vodka.
The hip-hop star was recently unveiled as the new spokesperson for Voli, but it has since emerged he has a vested interest in the line of beverages, which are produced in Cognac, France.
Pitbull reveals he learned all about the drink after being introduced to it by a group of health-conscious women.
In a statement issued to AllHipHop.com, he says, "I am extremely excited to be partnering with Voli light vodkas and to hold a significant ownership position in this great brand.
"I knew this was great vodka when I overheard some ladies talking about it while they were drinking. I asked them about it and they told me it was some of the smoothest, most delicious vodka they’d ever had, plus it was low calorie vodka. That’s when I tried it and fell in love.
"Next thing you know, we are business partners! I am excited to watch this brand explode and to be a central part of its success."
Pitbull is in good company in the alcohol industry - rap mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs has a partnership with Ciroc, while Dr. Dre, Ludacris and Ice-T all have deals for their own brand of liquors.
