'The Tonight Show' host fulfilled a long-held dream by playing against James Bond at the N64 game.
When James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan made an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show’ with Jimmy Fallon, he got a little more than he perhaps bargained for when the host challenged him to a game of GoldenEye. And, like the good sport that he is, he accepted.
Pierce Brosnan was challenged to a game of GoldenEye by Jimmy Fallon on air on Tuesday night
Those of you in your late 20s and early 30s will pretty much have grown up playing the Nintendo 64 game, famous for its fantastic multi-player mode as well as its free roaming gameplay and atmospheric solo missions. Released in 1997 by the now-rebranded Rare company, GoldenEye was considered a huge step forward in the development of the first-person shoot ‘em up genre of video games, and influenced the look and playability of games like Halo and Call of Duty.

At the end of the interview on Tuesday night, Fallon asked his guest if he could play a round of the multi-player game with him. The camera then cut to a huge screen projecting the game. Brosnan played as Bond (er, obviously), while Fallon selected Alec Trevelyan, Bond’s enemy in the 1995 film played by Sean Bean.

Fallon admitted that he played the game regularly as a college student and looked right at home with the controls, while Brosnan looks a bit bemused at the whole situation and was soundly defeated.
Brosnan plays a somewhat similar role in the upcoming movie The November Man, in which he is cast as an ex-CIA operative. It’s based on the seventh of The November Man books by Tom Granger entitled There Are No Spies, and Brosnan stars alongside Luke Bracey and Olga Kurylenko. It hits cinemas on August 27th.
