If you haven’t read the books, now would be a good time to stop reading: spoilers ahead. At the end of last season, we saw Daenerys’ dragons grow in size and strength, although they were still completely attached to their “mother”. In these coming episodes, we will see the cities that Dany “liberated” revolting against her rule and her dragons revolting against her restrictions. “I think it’s a symbol of her losing control of herself and what she’s doing,” says actress Emilia Clarke, who plays the Mother of Dragons in the series. Also, the dragons are big now. Really big. Kudos on that CGI budget, HBO.
The throne is getting to be too much for Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) to handle.
We don’t get to see much of other character’s storylines, although Peter Dinklage does mention that it’s all going downhill for Tyrion. It’s difficult to imagine how things could possibly get any worse for fans’ favorite Lannister.
“Tyrion has never been faced with this much public humiliation, because he usually has an answer for it,” says Dinklage. “He’s usually center stage and he’s usually better at it than people around him. This time around he’s left as an audience member.”
Meanwhile, Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) is gettng kicked around worse than ever.
As for the rest of the characters, we don’t get much of a preview into their storylines. Joffrey is still objectively terrible. Jaime Lannister is still a bit of an unknown, but we will get to see more of the brotherly bond between him and Tyrion this season. Lastly, there’s Oberon Martell – the new character and the wild card this season. With half of the Starks gone (feel free to cry now) there will, presumably be a free space in the battle for the Iron Throne. On behalf of Thrones fans everywhere, bring it on.
