Peter Andre knew ''straight away'' that he wanted to marry Emily MacDonagh.

The 'Mysterious Girl' singer tied the knot with the doctor - who he met four years ago after her surgeon father Ruaraidh MacDonagh operated on him - earlier this month and admitted he felt ''100 per cent'' that he wanted them to wed before they had even gone on a date.

During his wedding speech at Mamhead House in Exeter, Devon, he said: ''I knew straight away, from the minute I asked your father if I could have permission to date you.

''Ru was cringing when I asked him. He knew what I was going to ask. He said to me, 'Of course you can. See how you get on for six months.'

''I don't think he really knew what my intentions were when I asked him. I knew that day I wanted to marry Emily. I felt that 100 per cent.''

Meanwhile, the 43-year-old singer - who has 18-month-old daughter Amelia with Emily, as well as son Junior, 10, and daughter Princess, eight, with ex-wife Katie Price - won praise from his new father-in-law.

Ruaraidh said in his speech: ''You are a wonderful guy - you are loyal, generous and kind.

''And you have this sense of family that Emily does. At the stag day, I watched you with your family and your lovely friends and they all love you and you are so much a part of the party scene, exactly like Em is.

''With the two of you together, that makes a lethal combination. It'll be fantastic and I am honestly delighted.''
