The One Direction lads have been tremendously successful over the past couple of years, and it's come in a very important time of their lives. They're growing up, and it's easy to forget that their mums will be watching on in horror at some of their antics.

One highly publicized aspect of their lives is their tattoo choices, with Harry Styles and Liam Payne going a bit crazy with the ink. Payne - who has a set of arrows up his arms - said his mum 'went crazy about the whole tattoo idea'. Simon Cowell - the man behind the band's success clearly has more important things to do than mother the boys, as singer Zayn Malik explained: "Simon hasn't said anything but our mums have been like, 'maybe you're getting a bit too much.'"

Malik added that his charity trip to Ghana for Comic Relief put his love life woes in 'perspective' for him. "It kind of put things into perspective for me," said the singer during the band's appearance on Daybreak. "You go over there and you actually see people that are actually dealing with real problems and, you know, just having to carry on every day and keep going, so, yeah, just a general sense of putting things into perspective for me."

As for 18-year-old Harry said their mission in Africa was a career highlight. "We all kind of went out there not really knowing what to expect and then we all came back ... just kind of going, 'that was the best thing we've ever done.'"
