The week isn't really off to a great start...
Remember the “human Barbie doll”, Valeria Lukyanova? Her extreme, surgically altered look isn’t easy to forget, but now the 28-year-old Ukranian has come out with some statements that might become similarly branded onto people’s memory. Giving an interview to Russian GQ, Lukyanova shared some of her views on things like starting a family (which she wants nothing to do with, apparently) and “race mixing”. You can already tell where this is going, can’t you?

On the subject of starting a family, Valeria is firm: there is no such thing in her future.
"The very idea of having children brings out this deep revulsion in me," she said. "Most people have children to fulfill their own ambitions, not to give anything."
"I'd rather die from torture," she also said, "because the worst thing in the world is to have a family lifestyle."
That’s quite an extreme opinion, but she’s entitled to her own choices in life – even if those do include lumping all parents together and branding them as selfish. But it’s what Lukyanova said in the subject of beauty – a topic near and dear to her heart – that has raised more than a few eyebrows. Essentially, the online model believes there has been a “degeneration” of beauty in recent years. She also believes that it is due to – wait for it – race mixing. According to her, this is the reason for the apparent increase in the number of cosmetic surgery procedures performed in recent years.
Valeria has taken to posting selfies, accompanied by inspiring quotes.

"For example, a Russian marries an Armenian," Valeria elaborates for GQ. "They have a kid, a cute girl, but she has her dad's nose. She goes and files it down a little, and it's all good. Ethnicities are mixing now, so there's degeneration, and it didn't used to be like that. Remember how many beautiful women there were in the 1950s and 1960s, without any surgery? And now, thanks to degeneration, we have this. I love the Nordic image myself. I have white skin; I am a Nordic type—perhaps a little Eastern Baltic, but closer to Nordic."
And that would be your nugget of pop culture craziness for the day. Read the full interview over on GQ.
