In terribly sad news, the young actress Sammi Kane Kraft has passed away, aged just 20 years old. It will be hard for her family to reconcile with the death, particularly if a suspected DUI incident was the cause of death. The Los Angeles Times reports that Kraft was a passenger in an Audi that was speeding near the Crenshaw Boulevard are of Los Angeles in the early hours of this morning (October 11, 2012) and ended up hitting a big rig before then being struck by another car.

The driver of the car was a 21 year-old by the name of Molly Kate Adams; she was treated for moderate injuries but then also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The drivers of the other two automobiles managed to survive without injury.

Kraft's one movie role came about when her real-life baseball skills made her a perfect candidate to play the role of Amanda Whurlitzer in a 2005 remake of the cult Tatum O'Neal starring 1976 original film 'Bad News Bears'. Kraft apparently was never hugely obsessed with making a career in acting, but that didn't stop her enjoying the attention that came her way from that film, released when she was just 13. She'd enrolled at Santa Monica College earlier this year and was performing regularly as a solo musician on the club circuit.
