Thomas Cohen isn't all doom and gloom with 'Bloom Forever'
1. Thomas Cohen - Bloom Forever: He was formerly the frontman of S.C.U.M, but Thomas Cohen is sadly best known now as the bereaved widower of Peaches Geldof. The new album - his solo debut - reflects that loss, as well as the joy of marriage and new fatherhood that came before it, and so far critics are lapping it up. The Guardian thought the album 'surprisingly sunny', and the Evening Standard agreed that it is 'far from a wallow in grief'.
2. Anohni - Hopelessness: The New York-based artist is gearing up for quite the summer with a number of festival slots coming up inluding FYF Fest, Sónar Barcelona, OFF Festival and Red Bull Music Academy. It all makes good celebration for the release of her first album under her new moniker 'Hopelessness'. She was originally the frontman of Antony and the Johnsons, but formed a new alias when she came out as transgender. It's safe to say, critics are loving Anohni with Pitchfork in particular praising the 'crushing and glorious' album and the deep messages it conveys.
Goo Goo Dolls are back with 'Boxes'
3. Goo Goo Dolls - Boxes: As they prepare to embark on their North American summer headline tour, Goo Goo Dolls release this - their eleventh album 'Boxes' - featuring the stand-out track 'So Alive'. The band took a slight change in direction by bringing on collaborative songwriters, and it seems to have gone down well. Our reviewer Alex Lai described 'So Alive' as being 'the biggest indicator that the band are back to form'.

4. Death Grips - Bottomless Pit: On a slightly different note, experimental hip hop collective Death Grips follow up their appearance at Coachella this year with their fifth studio album 'Bottomless Pit'; an album that they first announced with a video of the late Karen Black reciting a film script by the band's own Zach Hill. One song worth noting is 'Eh', which made its debut on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show.
Jean Michel Jarre and Edward Snowden team up on 'Electronica 2'
5. Jean Michel Jarre - Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise: This renowned record-breaking French producer returns with part 2 of his Electronica series. 'Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise' is his fifteenth studio album and the follow up to last year's 'Electronica 1: The Time Machine'. Just as with 'Electronica 1', the new record features a massive range of artists such as Gary Numan, Primal Scream, Pet Shop Boys, Cyndi Lauper, Hans Zimmer and even NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.
6. Julianna Barwick - Will: Another distinctly different voice on the radar this week, Julianna Barwick releases an ethereal new collection called 'Will'; her fifth album which features the super-dreamy single 'Nebula'. The album has been highly praised for its electronic touches, and people really seemed to 'get' her approach. 'Her music has a blanketing quality, fully absorbing anything that comes into its fold', the Verge said.
White Lung are about to head out on tour
7. White Lung - Paradise: The feminist punk ethos remains a huge part of pop music culture, so 'Paradise' is definitely not one to miss out on this weekend. It's the Canadian rockers' fourth album and kicks off their extensive worldwide tour with songs such as guitar-heavy 'Kiss Me When I Bleed' and beauty ballad 'Below'.
8. Keith Urban - Ripcord: While this country star has been judging the final season of 'American Idol', he's also been recording his latest record 'Ripcord' featuring the Canadian Country chart toppers 'John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16' and 'Break on Me'. Rather than just being your classic country record though, 'Ripcord' takes an experimental approach with appearances from Carrie Underwood, Pitbull and Nile Rodgers.
