We all remember The Wiggles right? Well, not everyone does, but evidently quite a few people somewhere do because we're reporting the sad news that three quarters of the much-loved Australian post-toddler music group are to retire. Gutting, so it would seem.
The UK's Guardian newspaper reports that The Wiggles, after 21 years, 23 million sales and more than 4,000 live shows around the world, will be changing considerably. Jeff Fatt, famous for his purple top, Murray Cook, who wore red, and Greg Page (yellow) will all step down from the group at the end of the year after a final round of touring. Sad fans for Wiggles fans everywhere, wherever you are.
Replacing these stalwarts of children's entertainment? A 20 year-old lass who'll become the first female member of the line-up. Emma Watkins is currently a dancer in the group's live show and will be promoted to fully-fledged member. She will be joined by two more members of the live dancing team, with Lachlan Gillespie and Simon Pryce donning the red and purple tops respectively. Treasure them well, gents. It's not all change though, as blue top Anthony Field will remain part of the group, now the only founding member of the group who started in 1991 from the ashes of former Australian pop outfit The Cockroaches.
