Another model has come forward to accuse controversial Terry Richardson of sexual misconduct.
Terry Richardson has made a name for himself with his provocative shoots… and his questionable methods. This wouldn’t be the first time that Richardson’s on-set behavior has sparked controversy, but it is the first time the photographer might be in real trouble this time, as British model Emma Appleton has raised the alarm about Richardson allegedly soliciting her for sex. Appleton posted a screenshot on her Instagram, of someone she claims is the famed photographer, proposing to get her high-profile modeling work in exchange for sex.
This isn't the first time Richardson has been accused of misconduct.
"If I can f--k you I will book you in (New York) for a shoot for Vogue," the message read.
Appleton posted the photo with the caption "Um what?"
Naturally, social media users were all over the photo within the hour. Many questioned the legitimacy of Appleton’s claims, wondering whether it was indeed the same Terry Richardson — a photographer who has decorated numerous high-profile magazines, fashion houses, and worked with everyone from Kate Moss to Madonna — or if it could have been someone with the same name.
Appleton seemed understandably peeved at the onslaught and, according to the New York Daily News, wrote in response: "This industry is f--ked up. I've been modelling for 5 years and I've never had this before, it doesn't make it okay."
"The last assignment Terry Richardson had for US Vogue appeared in the July 2010 issue and we have no plans to work with him in the future"
— Lachlan Cartwright (@LachCartwright) April 21, 2014
Soon after Appleton’s post, she deleted her Twitter and removed the post from Instagram. Sunday night Richardson’s rep said that Appleton’s message was not from the photographer.
“This is obviously a fake," Candice Marks told BuzzFeed. "Terry did not send this text."
Appleton, however, isn’t backing down on this. She insisted to BuzzFeed that the text message was authentic and that she’d only deleted it to avoid unwanted attention and abuse. Meanwhile, Vogue have distanced themselves from the entire issue with the following statement: "The last assignment Terry Richardson had for US Vogue appeared in the July 2010 issue and we have no plans to work with him in the future," the statement, obtained by the Daily News' Confidenti@l, read.
