The latest attempt to further humanize technology comes in the form of Burberry Kiss – a product by Burberry and Google, which allows users to capture their lips in a kiss and send it to a loved one. The software uses “innovative kiss recognition” technology (in reality it looks like good ol’ fashioned facial recognition) to capture a kiss by the sender. Then you can customize settings, such as lip color and “handwriting.” The cutesy music is another bonus. The app is best used with the touch screen of a tablet or smartphone, but it also works fairly well with a simple webcam.

"We're constantly thinking about how we translate the emotion of what we create and experience in the real world into the digital space, whether that's capturing the energy and excitement of a live gig, the hum and buzz of anticipation before a runway show, or just the feeling you get when you pull on your trench coat on a rainy morning," says Burberry's chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey, for the Telegraph. "Burberry Kisses began with the idea of giving technology a bit of heart and soul, and using it to unite the Burberry family across the world - by telling a story that makes the digital personal."

Even if you’re not part of the Burberry family (we hear that’s an expensive club to be a part of,) you can still try out the kissing app over at kiss.burberry.com. It’s quite fun and a nice way to make a loved one’s day. If real kisses aren't an option, that is.
