The Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute gala will feature gowns from designers including Nina Ricci, Wes Gorden and Balmain Rodarte at this year's ceremony and fans will be able to scoop several pieces through online fashion retailer Moda Operandi's latest Spotlight project hours after the event has finished.
Moda Operandi co-founder Lauren Santo Domingo gushed: ''Events like the Met Gala offer some of the most spectacular fashion moments because they inspire experimentation.
''We are thrilled to be able to provide women with access to the fashion from one of the world's most thrilling red carpet events.''
There is no limit on how many dresses will be made and numbers will be constructed according to demand.
This scheme will run alongside their 'Punk: Chaos to Couture' collection as tribute to one of the museum's exhibitions. This line will include over 100 items, with pieces included from designers such as Vivienne Westwood and Givenchy.
Stars scheduled to attend the party - which will be streamed live from the red carpet by model Hilary Rhoda and US Vogue magazine's William Norwich - include co-chair member Rooney Mara, actresses Kristen Stewart and Emma Stone, as well as music sensations Gwen Stefani, Rihanna, Pharrell Williams and Kanye West.
Questions can be submitted to the co-stars via social networking sites Twitter and Facebook and the red carpet will be streamed live on May 6 from 11.30pm GMT.
