Sam Smith's unrequited love is one of his three managers, Elvin Smith.
The 22-year-old singer recently revealed his Grammy-winning album 'In the Lonely Hour' was inspired by a man he fell in love with but who didn't feel the same way, and the mystery man is believed to be the married music executive, according to The Sun newspaper.
Sam said: ''I feel nothing towards him now. I'll always love him but I'm not in love with him anymore. I definitely don't crease on the floor in pain any more.
''I was the only one in the relationship. It was in my mind and was something I had to get over. I also made the record so that this doesn't happen again.
''I don't want to fall in love again with someone who doesn't love me back.''
Sam and Elvin are now said to be good pals and colleagues, and the 'Stay With Me' hitmaker recently admitted he would never publicly release the mystery man's name out of respect.
He added to the publication: ''It's really tough to explain. But no, he's not gay.
''Nothing ever happened between us. I know he loved me too, but not in that way.''
At the Grammy Awards earlier this month, Sam picked up four awards, Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his hit 'Stay with Me' and Best Pop Vocal Album for 'In the Lonely Hour', and thanked his unrequited love in his acceptance speech.
He told the Los Angeles Staples Center audience: ''I want to thank the man who this record is about. Thank you so much for breaking my heart because you got me four Grammys.''
