The long awaited sequel will star Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford.
Robin Wright has reportedly joined the cast of the long-awaited Blade Runner sequel, which is due to begin filming in July. Wright stars as Claire Underwood in the Netflix series ‘House of Cards’ and the actress is currently filming Wonder Woman, in which she plays the titular character’s aunt General Antiope.

The news was first broken by The Hollywood Reporter, who wrote that Wright was in ‘final negotiations’ to star in the film, There are said to be three major female roles, and Wright has taken one of them.

The actress was rumoured to be in consideration for a role in the film for weeks, but negotiations were being held up by Wright’s filming schedule for ‘House of Cards’. The film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, while Ridley Scott will return as executive producer.
Also returning is Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard, but the film wont revolve around his character, instead focusing on the new, younger cast. Speaking about Ford’s character to Variety last year, Scott said: “Harrison is very much part of this one, but really it’s about finding him; he comes in in the third act.”

The lead role will be played by Ryan Gosling, but very little is known about the film’s script. So far the only details available are that it will take place decades after the original 1982 movie and the screenplay was written by original co-writer Hampton Fancher and Michael Green and is based on an idea by Fancher and Ridley Scott.
