Porn producers Vivid Entertainment has filed a lawsuit against Los Angeles County in an effort to invalidate a voter-approved law that requires porn actors to wear condoms and undergo blood tests if they appear in sex scenes. The lawsuit alleges unconstitutional prior restraint on freedom of expression and the imposition of additional unfair costs that competitors in other cities, counties and states are not required to pay. Vivid seeks an injunction blocking implementation of Measure B, which was approved by county voters in November. In an interview with Reuters, Paul Cambria, the lawyer representing Vivid, said that the porn industry already tests for sexually transmitted diseases and that the new condom law is prompting adult film studios to leave Los Angeles County in droves. He said that their departure is leaving thousands of people in the county unemployed and forcing those appearing before the cameras to work in places where there will be no rules and where they will have less protection than they do in the county.
