If Netflix were a cable-TV network rather than a streaming video service it would be ranked number one, according to calculations by BTIG analyst Richard Greenfield. He based his assessment on a congratulatory post by Netflix chief Reed Hastings, who said that Netflix's monthly viewing in June exceeded 1 billion hours for the first time. Among just those who subscribe to Netflix, the streaming service would rate higher than any broadcast or cable network, according to Greenfield's reckoning. He points out, however "As television watching is seasonal (mostly based around the traditional television season) so is Netflix, with Netflix benefiting when traditional TV content is weakest meaning summer/winter."
