U.s. Soap Actor Nathaniel Marston Fell Asleep At The Wheel Moments Before His Horrific Truck Accident, According To A Police Investigation.
The 40 year old, known for his roles in soaps One Life to Live and As the World Turns, may never walk again due to the severity of the injuries he sustained in the crash near Reno, Nevada on Saturday (31Oct15).
Investigating police officers discovered no drugs or alcohol were involved in the single-car accident, and they believe Marston, who was not wearing a seat belt, fell asleep while driving his pick-up truck.
"The vehicle drifted into the opposite lane and it is believed that when Marston awoke, he over-corrected, causing his pick-up truck to flip several times," a police representative confirmed in a statement released to ETonline.com.
"(Marston) was ejected from the vehicle through the windshield and upon landing, crushed several vertebrae in his neck and back. Remarkably, he suffered no head trauma."
It is feared the actor could be paralysed and he remains in a critical condition, unable to breath without a ventilator machine. He is set to undergo multiple rounds of surgery over the coming weeks.
His mother Elizabeth Jackson has been updating fans on Facebook.com and recently wrote, "Good news! Nathaniel opened his eyes and was responsive for the first time since yesterdays (Monday's) surgery (sic).Your prayers love and positive thoughts are working. God is good and he has a big mission for Nathaniel. He is scheduled for another surgery on Wed Nov 04. Please continue to cover him with prayers love and light. Thank you! Your love and support is much appreciated by me our family and Nathaniel."
