Tory MP turned reality star Nadine Dorries will face a probing by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner following her choice to enter the Australian jungle for the next series of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here. The government watchdog is set to inspect whether the disgraced politician has broken MPs' code of conduct by abandoning her post and constituents in Bedfordshire to appear on the show.
Dorries is currently blissfully unaware of the political storm that she has created, with the Australian summer sun and prospect of facing creepy-crawlies of all kinds likely to be the only things concerning the Mid Bedfordshire MP. She may have decided that she has better things to worry about than her political duties, but that still hasn't stopped her from still drawing her £65,738 MP’s salary, which will go nicely with the money that ITV are paying ger too, believed to be around £40,000.
Nadine has justified her appearance on the show by claiming that she "mostly works seven days a week" and that other ministers are often out of the country. She has since been suspended from the Conservative Party, and it is believed that show producers have informed her of the action taken against her, but she is still planning on entering the jungle anyway.
Prime Minister David Cameron has distanced himself from the topic of her appearance in the Australian jungle and has since made it clear that decision to suspend her over the unsanctioned appearance was made by the chief whip, Sir George Young. Mr Cameron's side-stepping of the rather important matter concerning his party and it's questionable representatives shocked no-one.
