Peter Graves, the original star of TV's Mission Impossible, who spoofed his own jut-jawed persona in the original Airplane! , playing a pedophile pilot, has died in Los Angeles at the age of 83. He reportedly collapsed in front of his home in the Pacific Palisades area of the city as he returned from a Sunday brunch with his family to celebrate his 84th birthday, which would have been on March 18. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times only three months ago, Graves said he had no plans to retire. "There has got to be some good parts around for guys my age," he said at the time.
