Mike Heron says his psychedelic group The Incredible String Band had ''no way'' of performing in the rain at Woodstock.
Mike Heron says The Incredible String Band had ''no way'' of performing in the rain at Woodstock.
The psychedelic folk pioneers were scheduled to play at the iconic festival in 1969 but their show was delayed for a day because of adverse weather conditions.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Mike said: ''I know exactly how that happened. It was just the two of us [Robin Williamson] and I, Clive [Palmer] had left by that point.
''With them the set up was more electric with keyboards and such, there was no way with them we could have played in the rain.''
The 70-year-old singer is now performing with the acclaimed folk rock band Trembling Bells, which includes Lavinia Blackwall, Mike Hastings, Simon Shaw and Alex Neilson. Mike also collaborates with his daughter, Georgia Seddon and in 2007 they recorded a track together composed in collaboration with poet John Burnside for a collection called 'Ballads of the Book'.
Mike said of their collaborations: ''Well I am kind of stuck with [getting old]. [But] one of the nice things I get is I get to do a lot of work with my daughter. She keeps me young.''
Mike is currently on tour across the UK with Trembling Bells.
