News of Melanie Lynskey’s divorce has started to spread, since TMZ reported on it a few days ago (October 1, 2012). The Two and a Half Men star has filed for divorce from Jimmi Simpson, the Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor, whom she married back in 2007. The couple have cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce and they’ve been separated since April 2012. Now, though, Melanie has begun proceedings to make their separation official. They have no children together.

The divorce documents reveal that neither Melanie nor Jimmi have requested spousal support in the divorce proceedings; both actors have successful acting careers, though it is arguable that Melanie’s roles in Two and a Half Men and – more recently, The Perks of Being A Wallflower – have made her slightly more of a household name than her ex-husband.

Melanie and Jimmi join a string of celebrity couples who have called it a day recently. However, their split appears to be relatively free of scandal. If only the same could be said of Heidi Klum and Seal, whose post-marital tensions recently went public, as Seal accused his ex of “fornicating with the help” after she started dating the family bodyguard. And of course, there’s the recent speedy divorce of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, which was clouded in mystery, rumours about the Church of Scientology and claims that Cruise had been “blindsided” by Katie’s divorce papers, which landed right before his 50th birthday.
