Only gherkin had shown any deterioration in shocking discovery
If you ever find yourself forgetting to eat your take away McDonald’s hamburger, only to stumble upon on it years later – fear not! It’s still edible! Well, err, maybe not, but it’ll certainly look the same as when you bought it all that time ago.
So found out Utah’s David Whipple after he purchased a hamburger from the fast food giants way back in 1999 and still has it to this day, looking just as he bought it 14 years ago. The Telegraph reports that Whipple relayed his tale to US TV Show The Doctors, explaining "It wasn't on purpose, I was showing some people how enzymes work and I thought a hamburger would be a good idea. And I used it for a month and then forgot about it.”
Continuing, he added "It ended up in a paper sack in the original sack with the receipt in my coat tossed in the back of my truck and it sat there for, I don't know, two or three months." His wife then didn’t find it until rummaging through his coat pocket a year or two after. Grim. However it hadn’t changed one bit! Aside from the deterioration of the gherkins it still looked fine! The couple considered putting it on eBay but after receiving bids closing to $2000 they decided to keep it for educational use. "It's great for the grandkids to see. To see what happens with fast food," Whipple said.
