Actor John Ingle – star of ABC daytime drama General Hospital for two decades – has died aged 84, reports The Huffington Post. Having recently appeared on the soap that made his name, in a renaissance of Edward Quartermaine, a character he had played since 1993, John Ingle passed away on Sunday, September 16th. "Father, Husband, Grandan, Great Grandan, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Teacher, Inspirer, Mentor: May You Soar with the Angels,” read a post on Facebook by his family. “You will forever hold a special place in the deepest corners of our hearts. You were joy, light and love. Goodness at its very best. For the rest of our days, we will all do our best to continue to make you proud. Rest in peace and continue to spread your generous spirit in the heavens above. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts." Frank Valenti, executive producer of General Hospital, also confirmed the news by tweeting "With great sadness, I share the news of John Ingle's passing. We love him and will miss him. John will always be a part of the #GH family." A real TV favourite, Ingle’s career was a long and fruitful one, with appearances on other television soap operas such as Melrose Place, Beverly Hills, 90210 and Days of our Lives. Ingle's wife Grace-Lynne Martin passed away on Feb. 11, 2012; the couple had five children together.
