Music Producer Jas Prince Has Reportedly Settled An $11 Million (£6.9 Million) Lawsuit He Filed Against Bosses At Bryan 'Birdman' Williams' Record Label Cash Money Records Over Drake's Music Royalties.
Prince launched legal action against bosses at the label last year (14), claiming he discovered Drake and was instrumental in helping the Started from the Bottom star land a deal with bosses at Aspire Music Group, who planned to license his rapping and songwriting services.
As part of the agreement, Prince alleged he would receive a portion of profits and advances generated by Drake's recordings. In July, 2009, Aspire executives reportedly allowed Drake to sign a joint contract with Williams' Cash Money Records and Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment label and in 2013, Prince claimed he was still owed $5 million (£3.1 million) from that deal and approached label executives about the money. They paid him $1 million (£625,000), but he claimed he never received the remaining funds and launched a breach of contract lawsuit.
Earlier this year (15), it was reported that the lawsuit had been dismissed, but it seems the parties reached an undisclosed settlement earlier this month (Oct15), according to TheJasmineBrand.com.
