Jacquelyn Jablonski has warned wannabe models that the industry isn't as glamorous as it may seem.
Jacquelyn Jablonski has offered words of warning to wannabe models.
The supermodel - who has worked with Chanel, Prada and Valentino - found the industry ''tough'' as a young girl and warned up-and-coming beauties that working the runway isn't as glamorous as it may seem.
She told Lucky magazine: ''It's nice when you can find those people who you can build a relationship with because it's tough. In the beginning, I thought it would be really glamorous, working in fashion. But it's actually quite hard. You don't even know half the stuff that goes on backstage.''
Jacquelyn, 23, also found herself lacking significant knowledge of the Haute Couture world and struggled to pronounce the names of world famous designers.
She explained: ''I knew a few designer names from advertising and magazines. And I learned I had been pronouncing them all wrong my whole life.
''I remember hearing other models talk about going to castings for Givenchy, and I was like, 'What are they saying?' And then I realized and was like, 'Oh, the Give-in-chee one.' I had been calling it Give-in-chee the whole time. I was shocked.''
After feeling as though she'd been ''thrown'' head first into the competitive industry, the brunette beauty admitted she was fortunate to have been signed to an agency that was happy to show her the ropes.
She told the mag: ''My agency educated me a little bit about big names and I recognized some of the faces from magazines. Still you're kind of just thrown into the mix.''
