The talented art director has been saluted by many of his colleagues and clients in the entertainment industry.
Multiple reports have emerged, claiming that Grammy-winning photographer and art director Ian Cuttler Sala died in a car accident on Sunday. Sala was According to Los Angeles Police Department’s report of the incident, Sala was riding in the passenger side of a Ford GT, driven by Sami Hayek, the brother of actress Salma Hayek.

As the car was driving down Sunset Boulevard, Hayek lost control and collided with a Toyota Takoma pickup truck. The police report, quoted by Billboard, claims that his passenger, who was identified as Sala on Monday, "sustained major blunt force trauma to his body" and died on the spot. Sala won a Grammy award for his work with Johnny Cash in 2006 and a nomination for best art direction for Louis Armstrong: The Complete Hot Five and Hot Seven Recordings, among other accolades from HOW, Print, The Color Awards and AIGA. Also on Sala’s resume are numerous projects for Sony Music, including work for Beyonce, Ricky Martin Billy Joel, Mariah Carey, Julio Iglesias, Marc Anthony and Destiny’s Child. Later making a name as a photographer, Salas shot for high-profile companies like Converse, Procter & Gamble, Sony BMG, 7 Up, Gillette, Axe, Christie’s New York, Lincoln Center, 1961 Denim and Pfizer and created editorial material for GQ Germany, GQ Mexico, Stern, Max Magazine, Maxim and H Magazine, among others.
The driver, Hayek, is reportedly in recovery with three broken ribs and a laceration to his head. while the 20-year-old pickup truck driver sustained a broken foot and complained of body pain.
