IMAX today (Tuesday) reported earnings that were as big as its screens. Ticket sales at its venues during its second quarter rose to $96.5 million, up a whopping 197 percent from the $32.5 million that it reported for the same quarter of last year. What seems even more remarkable is its report that for the first time international sales topped domestic -- also by a large amount. IMAX said that its international gross came to $55.7 million, a 402 percent increase from the 11.1 million earned from its foreign gross during the same period last year. For the year through May 13, IMAX's box-office gross came to $218.2 million versus $94.8 million for the same period a year ago, an increase of 130 percent.
