Ghost Hunter fans were weeping into their spirits-masquerading-as-white-blankets last night (February 18, 2012)as one of the American reality show's chief cast members announced that he was quitting the show. Grant Wilson has been an integral part of the program since it began back in 2004, since going on to accumulate a surprisingly cult following that's seen it last almost eight years.

Asking the team on the show if he could have some time to talk some private things through with them, Wilson said "Eight years has put stress on us in various ways and over the course of a while. Jay and I have been talking, and it's been a very difficult decision to make", allowing for a dramatic pause before continuing, "but I'm going to be leaving Ghost Hunters. So it's just time for me to back off, step aside." Finishing his speech he added, "No one has done anything wrong to push me there by any means. It's a tough decision to make, but it's not the end. It's not goodbye, still have a few more cases that I'll be working with you and I appreciate the support."

It's unsure what the real reasons for Wilson leaving the show are, but there's no denying he leaves a large gap to fill on the NBC Universal favorite.
