George Michael will not be facing any police charges following his bizarre accident on the M1 motorway near St Albans last month, when the singer fell from the rear passenger seat of his Range Rover whilst the car was being driven by an unnamed friend. The two people accompanying George in the car aren't expected to face legal action either.

On 16 May, the 49-year-old former Wham! singer fell from the passenger-side door of his 4x4 vehicle, bringing traffic to a stand-still and managing to escape with his life thanks to the quick thinking of the trailing drivers behind him. George suffered only minor head injuries and bruising in the incident and was airlifted to hospital soon after.

Following his hospitalisation, Hereford police had deliberated over charging the singer for not wearing a seatbelt, however the potential charges have now been dropped, with a spokesperson for the police department revealing on Wednesday (June 5) that no legal action will be taken against the singer. Michael, real name Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, remained in hospital for two week after the incident, but is believed to have made a full recovery.

This isn't the first time Michael has been involved in an automotive incident, however it is one of the first times he has been involved in on but not been the driver. In September 2010, he was given an eight-week prison sentence and a five year driving ban after crashing his Range Rover into a camera shop in north London and in 2006 was convicted of driving while under the influence of drugs, being sentenced to 100 hours of community service and handed a two year driving ban.

The singer and his team of representative have not responded to requests for a comment on the incident.
