"The Glades" was A&E's first successful piece of original programming.
The Glades, a moderately popular crime series on A&E, is being cancelled, the channel announced after its August 26th season finale. The finale attracted the highest number of viewers, 3.4 million, adding up to a season average of 2.6 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Matt Passmore was one of the stars of the A&E crime show.
The now cancelled show tells the story of Chicago detective who takes a job with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. It was created by Clifton Campbell, whose other credits include the Fox series White Collar, as well as the 90s crime drama Profiler. Matt Passmore, Kiele Sanchez, Carlos Gomez, Uriah Shelton, Jordan Wall and Michelle Hurd starred in The Glades, also a Fox production.
Kiele Sanchez played one of the key characters, Callie Cargill.
The show was the first piece of original programming by A&E to stay on air for longer than one season, running between 2010 and 2013. It paved the way for original scripted programming on the channel. The announcement of its cancellation came just days after the news that the channel, owned by the Hearst Corporation and the Walt Disney company, would be renewing Longmire on its Fall 2013 roster. In addition, A&E is prepping its latest original scripted drama, the Chloe Sevigny starrer Those Who Kill, for 2014, along with the second season of Bates Motel.
Carlos Gomez was also a permanent fixture on the show.
