Amanda Knox, the American girl who was accused of killing British student Meredith Kercher in Italy in 2009, has finally agreed to give an interview to ABC News, the New York Times reports.
Kercher was found with stab wounds to her neck on November 1st 2007. Knox was not only accused of killing Ms Kercher but in fact spent four years in jail having been convicted and found guilty, along with Kercher's boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito. Both have since been acquitted of the crime due to lack of evidence and left prison in 2011. Since then, privilege to Knox's first major television interview has been a matter of competition between competing networks. ABC finally won, and its reporter Diane Sawyer will conduct the interview with Knox.
The interview will be broadcast on April 30th and will coincide with the release of Knox's book about her ordeal, Waiting to Be Heard. It is said that CBS, ABC and NBC all attempted to win the family over for such interviews by getting to know them and the friends of Knox. Knox's sisters apparently stayed in an ABC producers' hotel room during court sessions, which Curt Knox, Amanda's father, said was "very kind".
