Miracle man Fabrice Muamba has given an interview for the first time since leaving hospital after his miraculous recovery from a collapse on the field of play during a football match between Bolton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur. Muamba shocked the football world when going down under no pressure during a match last month and it was revealed that his heart stopped for 78 minutes whilst receiving treatment on the field.

At one point looking like he might die, or certainly have a hindered life experience after the incident, it now remarkably looks like the player - a devout Christian - could make a full recovery. "What happened to me was really more than a miracle. I am walking proof of the power of prayer. For 78 minutes I was dead and even if I lived was expected to have suffered brain damage." Continuing, he added "But I'm very much alive and sitting here talking now. Someone up there was watching over me. On the morning of the game I prayed with my father and asked God to protect me - and he didn't let me down."

Now it looks like the player could even make a professional return again, although the optimistic estimate of six months time may be a little beyond reach. Whatever happens, Muamba made sure to thank Dr Andrew Deaner, a cardiologist and Spurs fan who happened to be in the crowd at the time and rushed onto the field. "It was pure chance that Dr Deaner was in the crowd that day. I owe him everything. He is the reason I have been able to hold my baby son again and continue my life."
