For anyone that isn't a London native, the tube system, the roads and, with cockney slang, even the English language can feel confusing and almost unrecognisable.
As much as all of these aspects of England's great capital can be difficult to traverse, the concept of the old apples and pears doesn't change, and most of us know how to use not only normal stairs, but also the escalator. However, for one very unlucky commuter, the escalator seemed one difficult task too much as he tried in vain to walk down the up-escalator. To further his lack of luck on that day, someone was standing by with a camera to film it all for him.
Sam Napper was the Londoner who caught the confusing event. "I was making my way home after dinner when we quite literally bumped into this chap on the escalators between the Northern and Central lines at Tottenham Court Road station," He told Metro. "At first I thought he was playing silly buggers with a few of his FX Trader mates but when we saw his dogged stagger and realised he was alone, I knew we were about to witness something truly brilliant." A few people tried to help the man, but he didn't seem to want any and continued to trudge forwards, while going nowhere.
"I had no idea where he came from but I had to hand it to him, the man knew where he was going." Sam continued, "Eventually, we let the poor sod out of his hamster wheel-like hell. After pausing for a few seconds, he turned around and walked out, as if nothing ever happened, saying nothing, leaving us stunned."
