The popular musical is in-demand all over the country
The Book of Mormon will be mocking the Mormon missionaries just down the road from their headquarters when it hits Salt Lake City in 2015. From the creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the musical will be part of the 2014-2015 Utah Subscription Series at the Capitol Theatre and Kingsbury Hall.

“This is one of the most exciting lineups in the 30 years we have been bringing national tours of Broadway musicals to Salt Lake,” said Broadway Across America/Utah president John Ballard in a news release. "The Book of Mormon" follows two missionaries, Elders Price and Cunningham, on their trek to a remote village in Uganda, which is under the control of a brutal warlord.
The musical is from the creators of Comedy Central's "South Park," Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and "contains explicit language," according to the news release. A Salt Lake city run was unexpected due to the size of the venues.
When questioned, the company offered this statement: "We are particularly excited about this show and feel fortunate to have it appear in Salt Lake City," said CEO Lee Marshall, underscoring the group’s mission to bring new shows to local audiences. “Patrons of the musical aren’t likely to leave the theater with a better understanding of the Book of Mormon," church spokeswoman Jessica Moody said Friday, restating the longstanding view at the faith's Salt Lake City headquarters.
"Our message in the playbill invites the audience to seek a more complete perspective on the book, its Christ-centered message and its place in Mormon belief, which is why we’ve run advertisements in every city this year."
Stone and Parker have been enjoying critical acclaim for the video game version of South Park – the 17-season animation that made them famous. The Stick of Truth, a role playing game that should last gamers around 15 hours, has been praised for staying true to the controversial cartoon.
