Users in India of some of the leading file-hosting sites found those sites replaced by the following announcement on Wednesday "This site has been blocked as per instructions from Department of Telecom (DOT). As reported by TorrentFreak.com, such sites as RapidShare, MegaUpload, MediaFile, and HotFile have been blocked. India produces the largest number of movies of any country, including the U.S., and Bollywood producers have long complained that they have been particularly hard hit by Internet piracy often executed via those sites. A recent report claimed that overall motion picture revenue in India has fallen 20 percent over the last three years as a result of film piracy with many films hitting the Internet or bootleg video stores on the same day that they are released theatrically.
