If you’ve ever gone on a tangent about made up 'reality shows,' and haven’t we all, the story of American Idol contestant Matthew Farmer might just be the best piece of ammo so far.
After a heartwarming audition, during which Farmer demonstrated his impressive singing chops, he began to tug at the audiences heartstrings by telling the story of his war injuries, before dedicating a song to his army buddies. He then even brought in his little daughter, but it turns out that everything was in fact a lie!
In truth, Farmer hasn’t served in the military at all, nor has he sustained brain injuries and his daughter, while incredibly sweet, is not a miracle at all because war trauma hasn’t made Farmer sterile (he hasn't been to war). Naturally, he will no longer be competing in Idol, Fox News has reported. Additionally, the singer has posted an apology on Guardianofvalor.com, saying: "I in fact HAVE lied since a younger age and had a problem with it. I am coming out and making a statement (even though I was instructed not to) because I DO want to come clean."
If you thought his singing was impressive, apparently his acting is even better. Suppose it still counts as talent, right?
