The new teaser trailer for Netflix original series 'Dear White People' might be a discussion on acceptable Halloween costumes, but it's set to premiere long before then. The air date for the first series reveals we can expect it to arrive in the Spring.

The show is based on the critically acclaimed indie comedy of the same name which was directed by Justin Simien and released in 2014, and while some of the cast are making a return for the Netflix reboot, Antoinette Robertson and Logan Browning are new arrivals taking over their roles from Teyonah Parris and Tessa Thompson.

'Dear white people, here's a list of acceptable Halloween costumes', says Logan in the trailer, as her character Samantha White speaks via a radio show. 'Pirate, slutty nurse, any of our first 43 presidents. Top of the list of unacceptable costumes: Me!'.

Also starring in the new series are Antoinette Robertson ('The Haves and the Have Nots') as Coco Connors, Marque Richardson as Reggie Green and Brandon P Bell as Troy Fairbanks (the latter two of whom are reprising their respective roles from the movie). Justin Simien is credited with writing and directing one episode of the series, with other directors including Tina Mabry, Barry Jenkins and Charlie McDowell.

The series follows a similar storyline to the film. It's about a group of black students at an Ivy League college that are determined to break down racial barriers and stop the thoughtless racism of the white majority. It culminates in a Halloween party organised by a white student with a powerful father, who decides to make the year's theme 'black face' to the anger of their black peers. As much as it was a satirical look at racism and black issues, it was praised for its address of often neglected racial matters.

'Dear White People' will hit Netflix on April 28th 2017.
