Jim Moray Jim Moray Album

Look at the front cover and you think that Boy George or Adam And The Ants have been reborn. The guy seems to be wearing more make up than Lily Savage. The way he looks is not why we are here, however his music is. A cross between folk music and some form of Theatre musically. The strangeness is just like something you'd expect from Anthony And The Johnsons.

Jim Moray is a multi-instrumentalist, arranger and a producer so every note, lyric is placed for perfection. This guy certainly has the talent to pull of any album. Although this has some great tracks they are tracks that you would not see in the charts at all. Maybe he will get his stuff in the folk charts, but Moray is pushing his nu-folk music forward and with this his second album, he has no plans of stopping. Will Moray do for Folk music, what The Beatles did for pop music??? I guess, only the people who buy this can answer that question.

Prelude is something that you would find out of the Sgt Peppers Album (The Beatles), which intertwines through to Lord Willoughby. This is like someone standing on stage with the light only on him, while he narrates what is happening in the play. 'Fair + Tender Lovers' is a tender song that dare I say brings out the softer side. 'Who's The Fool', shows the cleverness that Moray has in the way he arranges his music.

There is one thing that is for certain you will not confuse Jim Moray's music from anyone else. He is very much a distinctive artist that just needs to be left as the free spirit that he is and keep on producing his music the way he is. It has to be said that if this is not really your type of music then it won't be for you. If it is, then these are exciting times for you.
