Jeffrey Halford and the Healers Railbirds Album

More cozy and marginal than Bob Schneider, less conforming than Springsteen, and often comparable to Elliot Murphy, Jeffrey Halford continues the great tradition of the blue-collar American folk rock singer/songwriter/guitarist. Some smart slide work and smoking riffs add a nice hitch to this disc's get-a-long blues-based rock. Halford and band blow the roof off with the rollicking up-tempo "Rent to Own" and approach genius with the touching, subtle ballad, "Railbirds." Halford's crisp clear vocals and no-nonsense delivery compliment the solid musicianship. Other highlights include the fun "Watching the Trains" and the dynamic venture, "Jump Into the Fire."
