Ibiza Weekend!
You know the Ibiza season is here when you find yourself getting up at 2am on Friday morning to make the 6am Easyjest flight from Stanstead. It's not the ideal way to start your day, but when you arrive it is all worth it and the blue skies and a warm sun instantly banish the feelings of tiredness.
This year we were staying at Es Vive, which is known for being the hippest hotel on the island. We entered the front gates onto the terrace which looked inviting and had a cool ambience. The staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble. Es Vive is ideally situated to experience the best of what Ibiza has to offer, being close to Ibiza town, and superclubs Pacha and Space. It's a place you never need to leave; you can lounge by the pool, dine on the terrace or party in the
Electric Cabaret bar. They also have fruit smoothies to die for! It you can tear yourself away, there are shops and restaurants close by and Figueretas beach is only a few minutes walk.
It was Friday night and we headed to Café Mambo where Pete Tong was hosting his Pure Pacha pre party with special guest Steve Lawler. The crowd were also treated to an amazing display by fire dancers on the beach before the words Pure Pacha were set a light to a rapturous applause, which definitely put us in the mood for our night ahead.
Next stop was Pacha where Pete Tong continues the revelry, at his night Pure Pacha that has built a reputation for combining musical quality, glamour and escapism. For the opening party Pete was joined by Laurent Garnier and they both received a 15 minute applause at the end of the night and the clubbers just didn't want to leave. Comments Pete: "After a flying start it keeps getting better a better… the dancers and décor are the best we've ever had and it looks like it's going to be amazing season"
Tonight was the opening for Steve Lawler's Viva residency at Pure Pacha and the club was rammed. Pacha is always ultra glam and tonight was no different with lavish décor and dancers flamboyantly dressed in bondage style outfits. Steve took to the decks at 2am and did not disappoint, with a selection of tunes that was deep, dark and melancholic.
Taking a breather to have a wonder round the club we checked out Jade Jaggers Jezebel Room with resident Jaguar skills mixing it up with a mixture of music from Rock to Roots and from Hip Hop to Dancehall.
A quick drink on terrace and is was back to the action in the main room as Pure Pacha's head honcho and undisputed king of Fridays Pete Tong took to the decks at 5am, keeping the crowd rockin' till closing. By the time he had finished the sun had risen and the revellers were back to their peak, Pete showing once again exactly why he is something of an institution. Bring on next Friday!
After Pacha it was off to the islands favourite after party venue, the all new Electric Cabaret Bar at Es Vive. Developed by Smirnoff and Es Vive, the space has been totally transformed into the most stylish bar on the island and if you get the chance you really must check it out as they have loads of great parties and special one off events throughout the summer season.
