Dolores O' Riordan Are You Listening? Album

The voice and face of the Cranberries, Dolores O' Riordan, returns with the eagerly anticipated album 'Are You Listening?' but trust me it's not all that it's cracked up to be.

This anti-climax solo album from the ex-Cranberries front woman makes it more and more clear that she should have stayed put with The Cranberries. Not even being produced by Youth, who has worked with U2, Primal Scream, Sir Paul Mc Cartney and The Verve in the past, could help her impress with this agonizing solo album.

There's no doubting that it's passionate, with a number of songs being written about personal matters in her life; including her mothers death from Cancer and the Birth of her third child 'Dakota', but it's all very much lost with the lack of musical conviction applied. Many of the tracks are dissonant and some of them just don't work.

'Ordinary Day' though is some consolation as it is by far her best song. It's pleasant, it's catchy and it's the one and only feature point of the album. It's a start contrast to the rest of the album and within the album it looks out of place and irregular alongside some the most rubbish songs I have ever heard, no exaggeration.

Looking at it optimistically she has demonstrated some talent but pragmatically the most part of the album is rather disappointing.

2/5
