Fur Coat. No Knickers

The Catskills crew are back with new signing CH3VY and that’s a cool name in my book. ‘Fur Coat No Knickers’ is a class title as well. If your used to Catskills grooves your gonna like this asemble of funky tunes by CH3VY. They’ve got the funk, street skills and professional ability to make a deep impression on your mind, soul and toes. Each track has its own character, all true to the funk and they have progressive, intelligent arrangements. Primarily all the

tracks have a live band sound that is tight and laid back. ‘Rock Me Mumma’ stands out on this 4 track taster to me as it hits straight on the money with a sassy, sophisticated sound of the jazzy streets of corner near you, only if your cool though. A lot of character and smooth soul. ‘Praise The Nord’ is a funk flavour you may have heard before. They capture a lot of the Herbie Hancock sound and experiment in P-Funk but without the grit of Eddie Hazel. It’s smooth laid back and jazzy. The other tracks follow a similar rhythm style and feel, that would be suitable at a safe jolly crowd mincing around. There’s an awsome keyboard section in ’83 Functions’ to really appeal to those music lovers.

CH3VY are a talented creative bunch making fun loving music that captures the now cool and sophisticated break beat scene. These four tunes have playing potential at parties and make for non offensive listening. Catskills create another.
