After Morrissey cancelled a concert scheduled for this past Thursday in Flint, Michigan, it has been revealed by Billboard that the reason behind the cancelation was because the singer has been admitted to the Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, a suburb of Detroit.

The former Smiths lead initially cancelled the show in Flint and another one on Friday, because of a band illness. However, it has come to light that it was actually Morrissey himself who was ill and is now undergoing further tests. This has lead to another cancellation – this time of the Chicago show on Saturday. There’ve been no further announcements about Morrissey’s condition, but the tour is currently looking uncertain at best. Some other shows have been scheduled in Las Vegas, Nashville and Atlanta, but even those further off might be cancelled, it seems.

A spokesperson for the performer has refused to reveal whether he has been released from the hospital quite yet, and his condition is still unknown. All of the tickets for the cancelled tour dates have been refunded by the respective venues, but the fans will be disappointed nonetheless. The tour, which started earlier in January, had barely even kicked off, when the sudden setback put a pin in it for an indefinite amount of time.
